RESULTS FROM THE TOM COSENZI DRIVING FOR THE CURE CHARITY GOLF TOURNAMENT

TO BENEFIT BRAIN TUMOR RESEARCH AT DANA-FARBER CANCER                                                        INSTITUTE

 

The Tom Cosenzi Driving for the Cure Charity Golf Tournament, which took place at the Hampden Country Club in Hampden, MA on Thursday, October 1^st, 2009 successfully raised over $56,600 to benefit brain tumor research at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute.   Tom Cosenzi, a Hampden resident and patient at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, sadly lost his long courageous battle with brain cancer last September.    

A prominent business figure in Western Massachusetts, Tom was the founder of the Tommy Automotive Group and owned several automobile dealerships, including Country Hyundai, Country Nissan and Patriot Buick GMC.   It was Tom's wish for his family and friends to continue to raise money for neuro-oncology research so that the burden of cancer can ultimately be eliminated for patients and their families.   

This year's Jimmy Fund golf tournament was a very loving tribute to Tom and an overwhelming fundraising success.   On Monday, November 23rd, Tom's children, Carla and Tommy Cosenzi, presented Patrick Wen, M.D., Clinical Director of Dana-Farber's Center for Neuro-Oncology, with their event proceeds, taking a very impressive leap forward in the fight against brain cancer.

Balise Lexus, Field Eddy Insurance and Southern Auto Auction are corporate sponsors for the first annual "Tom Cosenzi Driving for the Cure Charity Golf Tournament" to be held October 1st at the Hampden Country Club in Hampden, Massachusetts. 

 

Tom Cosenzi, well-known for his many automobile dealerships in the Western Massachusetts area, died on September 3^rd after battling with a Glioblastoma brain tumor for over two and a half years.   It was Mr. Cosenzi's wish to give back to Dana Farber for all that they had done for him.  Monies raised from the golf tournament will benefit research in the Neuro-Oncology Department at the Dana Farber Cancer Institute.
